Japan's ambassador to Lebanon Takeshi Okubo visited Lebanese President Michel Aoun to convey the "great concern" of the Japanese authorities about Carlos Ghosn's escape, Reuters reported.
Okubo asked Aoun for the Lebanese government's cooperation on the Ghosn case in order to avoid negative repercussions for relations between the two countries.
The ambassador assured that it was making great efforts to preserve bilateral ties.
He also described Ghosn's flight as deplorable. It has not been revealed whether the ambassador requested Aoun to extradition the former president of Nissan, according to the NHK.
For his part, the president of Lebanon emphasized that his government had no involvement in the Ghosn escape.
Aoun said that his country recognized the importance of its ties with Japan and that it will spare no effort to cooperate with the Japanese authorities. (International Press)
