Ghosn sues Renault over retirement

Fuji TV

In January 2019, while under arrest in Tokyo, Carlos Ghosn sent a letter to Renault to resign as president of the French company.

A year later, the Financial Times reveals that Ghosn has sued Renault in court in France to demand payment of his retirement worth 770 thousand euros (94.4 million yen / 857 thousand dollars) a year.

The French company considers that Ghosn is not entitled to receive payment for his resignation from office.

However, the Brazilian executive's legal defense will claim that the Brazilian executive was forced to sign the letter by the Japanese authorities and that his resignation was also due to the fact that being confined to Japan he could not attend Renault meetings to fulfill his role as President.

The French court will see your case in February. Ghosn, currently in Lebanon after fleeing Japan, has no obligation to attend. (International Press)
