Japan's government has already taken steps to strengthen controls following Carlos Ghosn's escape late last year.
Transport Minister Kazuyoshi Akaba said large baggage of passengers on private planes should be checked in a mandatory manner, Kyodo reported.
The measure has been in place at Haneda, Narita, Chubu and Kansai airports since Monday.
On the plane, according to the NHK, two Ghosn accomplices were traveling that accompanied him from Tokyo to Osaka. (International Press)
