A 36-year-old man was arrested by Chiba police for hitting a woman on a street with a concrete block.
The incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. M. Sunday, Tokyo Reporter details.
The victim, a 25-year-old woman, was walking down a street when the subject, identified as Kota Kawashima, suddenly hit her on the head several times and fled.
The woman was with someone else, who called the police. Kawashima was located and captured near the site of the attack.
The victim was taken to a hospital. Apparently there is no risk of death.
The assailant admitted the attack, but denied that he had intended to kill her.
Kawashima didn't know the woman and attacked her because he just "passed by." The man said he was drunk and angry when he hit her. (International Press)
